Unreal Tournament 2004
I’m really starting to think this demo is a worthy download. I liked UT and UT2003 (especially Bombing Run). Plus, plenty of people are raving about it, and I found a review that rates the different aspects of the game. One claim made by the reviewer that I really hope is true is:
Best of all you only need to mid-range system to run UT2004 at high or at its highest settings.
In addition to the new gametypes and other nice additions and changes, they also have some speech recognition implemented (it sorta sounds like they’ve not completely integrated it yet, but it’s a start). And while I normally wouldn’t bother with the voice recognition, I might give this a try. I mean, I’m usually not a big fan of learning key combinations to give orders…and that’s what they’ve been able to apply this to. Now, you can order your bots around by yelling at your computer. Nifty.
To top it all off, for the non-Windows gamers? they have the demo available for Linux AND for the Mac.
We should try it sometime.
Update: I replaced the “this demo” link with a better download spot.

Meh. UT has a cool concept and all but, I cannot stand the physics they use. Jumping, super jumping, all that weird sci-fi type stuff. It’s too frustrating for me to see a person jump into the air and not lose acceleration or other physics laws being completely broken. But that’s just me. I’ll play Silent Storm while you’re doing that.
